So,  I have boys... and they like to dress-up in clothes and play a roll.  But they are boys so I don't feel like I can really call it playing, "dress-up!"  Therefore I have been saying, "let's go wear costumes," but it still doesn't sound quite right.  Any ideas?  What is it called when boys play dress-up? :)

Soccer!!

Kael has cried, lauged, scored a goal during the game, ran and much more!  He has learned so much!
and I think he generally likes it!

Silas has loved soccer season.  He  likes to be in the middle of the action.  He runs around the green field with the ball mostly in his hands.  He kicks great and always lets me know when and older kid takes away his ball!
We've done this before, but we did it again and they loved it.  I made a race track out of duck tape down the hall and through the living room.  This time Kael had the idea to make mountains so we grabbed a bunch of pillows and stuck them under the tape in various locations.  It was a blast.   Later that day when we were outside and he could see the buttes out in the distance Kael noticed that they looked like out race track mountains!

Grandma's Garden

Over Labor Day weekend we took the trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house and canned applesauce and Chokecherry syrup.  Grandma's garden is a truly wonderful place where you can just pick things and eat them.  My boys especially loved the apples and carrots.  Evan and Melissa and Kristy were all there too.  We had a great time just being together.  Silas has been asking for Uncle Evan all week.  he will say in his cutest voice, "Evan here?"  and then every time I bring up the oven her thinks I am taking about Evan!

Kristy brought her guitar and the boys were totally enthralled!

park and camping

We had such a great week.  At the beginning we had a fun photography session at the park.  It was a perfectly cloudy and I couldn't resist.  Then we went to a branch camp out to a beautiful and lovely location right up against the rocky mountains.  The boys loved hanging out around the tent and campfire and then the next morning we played at the lake just a short distance away!  It was tons of fun!

Good morning!

My kids are so happy in the morning.  I've been trying to fit in some fun thinking activities in the morning.  Last week we set up some blocks and Kael called it a maze.  They had a blast, especially once the race cars came out.

Silas was so funny!  He thought it was hysterical to run from me when I was trying to take his picture.

We bought 20 lbs of cherries and Kael helped be pit some of them.  Is was a very messy job, but doesn't he look cute in pink Hawaiian print?

Productive Week despite the ATTACK!

At the end of this week we were attacked by the flu but I still managed to get a few things done!
I got to pick my first ripe cherry tomato and I picked some nanking cherries with a friend.  I quickly ate the cherry tomato and it was delicious.  I made jam out of the nanking cherries and it turned out beautiful and yummy!  I also canned 8 quarts and 16 pints of pickles!

It is amazing to me how the same flu virus can affect each kid differently.  Both spent a night puking but the next morning Silas was ready to play and Kael cat-napped all day.  Kael took a nap outside on the trampoline with the sunshine on him and it reminded me of what I used to do as a kid when I was sick.  I swear sunshine heals.  Both are finally feeling better.
